When the 30-year incumbent Mayor John Dunton suddenly croaks, the small Maine town of Seppuwa Falls holds their first election in generations, bringing out the local crazies in the process. Out of the confusion comes Becky and David Chaux: a couple of idealists who, despite the circumstances, still see the town as a work in progress.

We see the inhabitants of Seppuwa Falls grapple with the death of their mayor and the insane election to replace him. Will the corrupted campaign of Remi Baptiste succeed? One thing's for sure, the town's signature dish, River Trash, is not a balanced breakfast.
